Best and Worst Managed Semiconductor Companies
August 04, 2010

The semiconductor company and CEO rankings are based on submissions from current and recent former employees.  Qualcomm scored the highest among 77 companies, and its CEO received high ratings.  The ratings submissions range from the hundreds to dozens depending on the company.  The companies were ranked from 1 (low) to 5 (high) scale in the following categories:  recognition, compensation, management, morale, opportunities, fairness, communication, and work/life balance.  The CEO was also ranked.

The table below shows the rankings of the top-best rated semiconductor companies and the bottom-5 rated firms.  Qualcom was the best-managed company in terms of ratings by staffers.  Samsung Austin Semiconductor (the fab facility) received the lowest ratings.

Samsung Electronics America also received very poor ratings.  Surprisingly, Xilinx was the second-worst rated chip company with a low CEO rating.

Please note that this is not a scientific survey -- purely based on subjective remarks of current and former employees.  Nevertheless, we are not surprised by most of the findings.

The data is from glassdoor.com which is portal of company reviews by employees.  Clicking on the company below will take you to the review page of each company.
