Econmy Shuffles Chip Rankings
Semiconductor Top-20 rankings were roiled as the effects of the semiconductor downturn swept through the industry. Intel and Samsung kept their top two slots but Samsung made slight headway. Toshiba and STM climbed a notch while TI slipped to the fourth spot. AMD and Micron gained several notches. One of the big losers, TSMC, dropped in ranking from fourth to 10th position due to inventory burn-off in the last six months. NXP and NVIDIA dropped out off the Top-20 rankings while MediaTek, a multimedia IC supplier, joined the rankings table.
