Nigel Toon

picoChip named Nigel Toon to be the company's president and CEO and member of its Board, replacing Guillaume d'Eyssautier.

Prior to taking over at picoChip, Toon served as VP sales, marketing and business development at Icera where he was a member of the Board of Directors and a founder of the company. Most recently he was VP and GM for the Phone Business Unit at Icera. Prior to Icera he was VP and managing director for Altera responsible for its European business unit.

In reported press comments, Toon said that he left Icera because it and picoChips had common investors and he was offered a good opportunity. Toon takes over at a time when picoChip is believed to have about 100 customers.

Last month, Ubiquisys, the 3G femtocell company, and picoChip, began working together to integrate the picoChip PC302 processor into the Ubiquisys ZoneGate femtocell. picoChip will continue to be one of Ubiquisys' strategic suppliers, extending a five-year working relationship.
