ZeroG Wireless and Microchip in Co-development Pact
April 14, 2008

ZeroG Wireless, an devloper of low-power embedded Wi-Fi technology, is collaborating with Microchip Technolog to co-develop Wi-Fi solutions for users of Microchip's PIC(R) microcontrollers.  Mircochip believes that PIC microcontroller users can take advantage of ZeroG's chipset to add Wi-Fi to their embedded designs. ZeroG believes that its technology will enable wireless connectivity to a wide array of systems without regard to their architecture.

The first public demonstration of ZeroG's Wi-Fi chips, working with the PIC18F97J60 high-performance, Ethernet-enabled 8-bit microcontroller, will be held at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose this month.

ZeroG Wireless was founded by Tom Lee, a tenured Professor at Stanford University, where he established the CMOS wireless IC research program. Lee is also a co-Founder of Matrix Semiconductor.  Privately held, ZeroG Wireless is headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif. Investors include Cisco, Greylock Partners, Morgenthaler, and Miven. The investors put in about $13 million in a Series A funding in June 2007.
