MIPS Technologies (NASDAQ:MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer, networking, personal entertainment, communications and business applications, filed a patent and trademark infringement lawsuit against Trident Microsystems in the United States District Court, Northern District of California. 

After business discussions have failed to resolve Trident's unauthorized use of MIPS Technologies' IP, the company has taken this next step.  No response was issued yet from Trident.
